Cutting Herbs in the Kitchen Was a Pain in the Butt Until I Got These

Cooking has always been a passion of mine. I love the smell of spices, all the beautiful colors of food, and the satisfaction of seeing my family smile at the end of a successful meal.

With all my love for the kitchen, however, there is just one issue that has always peeved me over the years – that of cutting up herbs. Now, I love using herbs in my meals, from mints and chives to thyme and cilantro. They just take everything I cook to another level and add flavors that keep the compliments coming.

Because I loved working with herbs so much, I didn’t pay much attention to how much trouble it was for me to cut them up at first. After all, like most of my friends, I had grown up seeing my parents and other adults do the same thing. I felt that all I needed was to have a sharp knife and that was that.

Well, have you ever had to deal with cuts on your index finger? Regardless of how small they might be, they sting quite a bit when exposed to water or even the juices from the herbs that I love to cut up. After numerous cuts and nicks from using knives over the years, I had had enough.

But it was more than just the cuts, it was the TIME. I know, everyone is busy, but making fancy meals with fresh herbs – I just didn’t have the time to do it anymore. I have to admit, I started avoiding the kitchen altogether, opting for takeout most of the time.

Needless to say, I missed cooking and would venture in the kitchen from time to time to restart my love-hate affair with cutting up herbs. I was prepared to continue this kind of relationship too…until a good friend of mine sent me a Christmas gift last year that changed my whole approach to cutting up herbs in the kitchen. I sincerely believe that a higher power must have come down and whispered in her ear what I needed. I mean, how did she know I was struggling with herb-cutting and needed a pair of Herb Scissors?

I’ve never even heard of herb scissors or had any idea that they existed. Yet, when I unwrapped my friend’s gift, I knew right away that I needed them and I would no longer be able to live without them. In case you are in the same position I was in not too long ago and have never used herb scissors, I am telling you that they are must-haves. Not only do they significantly lessen the likelihood of getting cut when prepping herbs for your favorite recipes, they make the process so much quicker and easier. Plus, you can use them to get professional chef results when making garnishes, salads, or to shred vegetables. You can even use them outside of the kitchen as well, for art and craft projects, for example, so you can get it even if you’re not a foodie like me.

The herb scissors that she got me were Jenaluca Herb Scissors. They are made with fine, heavy-gauge stainless steel and have five sharp blades that glide through herbs and vegetables, making light work of them.

One snip of this scissors actually equals 10 knife chops!

Not only that, they allow you to cut them into perfect sizes and make it easier for the flavors to come out. They are also easy on the hands, with soft-grip TPR handles which offer maximum control over the cutting action while being gentle on your fingers.

One more thing, cleaning up these scissors is really easy. For starters, it comes with a convenient cleaning comb that removes residue from herbs, and the scissors can easily be put in the dishwasher. The cleaning comb also doubles as a protective cover for the blades when you’re storing them.
